Welcome to Bento, a chat-first calorie and nutrition tracker developed by Wyreframe Labs (OPC) Private Limited under the PRTCL10 division (“we”, “us”, or “our”).

Bento is available globally on the Apple App Store and is designed to be private by architecture: your food diary, weight history, profile and plans live on your device and sync only to your own private iCloud. This Privacy Policy explains what information Bento handles, where it lives, and the choices you have. By using Bento, you agree to the practices described below.

Who We Are

Bento is operated by: Wyreframe Labs (OPC) Private Limited under the PRTCL10 Division, registered in Bangalore, India, and serving users worldwide.

Our Privacy Philosophy

Bento is a local-first, privacy-respecting app. Your nutrition data belongs to you. We do not run a database of your food history or identity — everything you log stays on your device and syncs only to your personal iCloud. The network is used only to add intelligence, never to collect your history.

Data We Collect

A. Data Stored On Your Device (and your private iCloud)

This data is stored locally using Apple's SwiftData and mirrored to your private CloudKit database in your own iCloud account. Wyreframe has no access to it:

  • Meals and food items you log — quantities, units, calories, macronutrients, micronutrients, tips and timestamps
  • Your profile and goals — gender, birthdate (used to derive age), height, weight, activity level, goal and unit preference
  • Weight history, water intake, streaks and preferences
  • Coach conversations and saved or pinned Action Plans

B. Data Processed to Power AI Features

To turn a meal description or photo into structured nutrition, or to answer a Coach question, Bento sends the relevant request through a stateless proxy to a third-party AI provider (OpenAI) and returns the result. The proxy exists so the AI provider key is never shipped in the app, and it stores nothing. Depending on the action, a request may include:

  • The meal text you typed, or the meal photo you took, for parsing
  • Light context to improve accuracy: your local time, unit system and a short list of recently logged foods
  • For Coach and plan requests: a compact summary of your goal, calorie budget, protein target and dietary preferences (e.g. “vegetarian”), and — only if you enable Apple Health — small aggregates such as average sleep hours and average step count

These requests are not tied to your name, email, Apple ID or any account — the proxy uses a shared app credential, not a personal login. We never send your full diary, history or identity.

C. Apple Health (optional)

If you grant permission, Bento reads step count, active energy, sleep analysis and (if you opt in) body mass from Apple Health, read-only, only when a feature that needs it is first used. Health data is used to refine your calorie budget and give the Coach context. It is never written back, and raw Health data never leaves your device — only the small aggregates above, and only if Health is enabled.

D. Barcode Scanning

If you scan a product barcode, the barcode number is sent to the public Open Food Facts database to look up product and nutrition information. No personal data is attached to this request.

E. Subscriptions

Bento's optional subscriptions are sold and processed by Apple. We never receive or store your payment card details. We and our subscription-management provider (RevenueCat) receive only the anonymized transaction and subscription-status information needed to unlock features and restore purchases.

What We Don’t Collect

  • No names, emails or phone numbers by default
  • No GPS or precise location data
  • No biometric data (face, fingerprint, etc.)
  • No third-party advertising SDKs or cross-app trackers, and no use of the Advertising Identifier (IDFA)
  • No behavioural profiling or data monetization

How We Use Your Data

The limited data we process is used only to:

  • Interpret your meals and photos into structured nutrition
  • Power the AI Coach and generate Action Plans
  • Refine your calorie budget with optional Apple Health signals
  • Operate subscriptions and restore purchases

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or selling to third parties.

Third-Party Services

Bento relies on a small set of services, used only for their stated purpose and governed by their own privacy policies:

  • Apple — iCloud/CloudKit stores your data in your own account; the App Store processes subscriptions; Apple Health provides optional signals with your permission
  • OpenAI — receives meal text/photos and the compact summaries above to generate responses; under our API arrangement this content is not used to train the provider's models
  • RevenueCat — helps manage subscription entitlements and restores
  • Open Food Facts — receives barcode numbers you scan

Your Privacy Controls

  • Your data is on your device: view and delete entries in the app, and remove everything by deleting the app and clearing its iCloud data.
  • No sign-up required: use the app without creating a Wyreframe account.
  • Apple Health: grant or revoke access anytime in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health.
  • AI is your choice: you can log manually with your own emoji without ever sending a meal to the AI.

Data Retention

On-device and iCloud data is retained until you delete it, or delete the app and remove its iCloud data. AI requests are not retained by our proxy; the AI provider may retain content briefly for abuse monitoring under its API terms. Subscription records are retained by Apple and RevenueCat as needed to operate purchases.

Children’s Privacy

Bento is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided information through the app, contact us at hello@prtcl10.com.

Data Security

Your primary data is protected by your device's encryption and Apple's iCloud security. AI requests travel over encrypted HTTPS, the AI provider key is held server-side and never shipped in the app, and the proxy enforces payload limits and rate limiting. No system is perfectly secure, but Bento is designed to minimize the data at risk by simply not collecting most of it.

Policy Updates

We may occasionally update this Privacy Policy. When we do, we will update the “Effective Date” at the top and, where appropriate, notify you within the app. Continued use of Bento after an update means you accept the revised policy.
